Diversity thrives in an inclusive culture
An inclusive culture is a prerequisite for diversity to show results in terms of business performance. Inclusiveness means that everybody can contribute and bring their own authentic self to work. With this goal in mind it becomes clear that all employees stand to gain from a more inclusive culture.
An inclusive workplace also means that management practices are inclusive. For most organizations, this involves a culture shift that needs to be promoted through leadership training.
While strong leadership and role modeling are key, inclusion can’t be mandated from the top. It is critical to involve and consult everyone else in the organization. After all, they are best placed to point out the behaviors that need to change and find solutions to the obstacles that are hampering the transition towards more inclusiveness.
